Join our expanding medical team and work at the leading edge of addiction medicine.
The supportive PHS Health Care medical team includes more than 13 GPs and addiction specialists, 30 nurses, two social workers and dedicated medical office assistants. And we’re growing!
We’re looking for a skilled (temporary) Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse and three (permanent, full-time) Licensed Practical Nurses to serve as critical members of our multidisciplinary team.
Although best known for community harm reduction, primary care is the mainstay of PHS Health Care’s nursing practice. Candidates will be required to perform the full scope of nursing functions in a primary care setting with a focus on addictions and mental health.
Using clinical judgment and training, PHS nurses perform job duties through a trauma-informed and culturally sensitive framework, grounded in a harm reduction, strength-based and community-oriented philosophy of care.
There’s a lot of longitudinal relationship-building with patients, leading to opportunities to devise creative care planning.
Why join PHS Health Care?
PHS Health Care is an innovator in providing low-barrier full primary care and mental health and addictions treatment services to marginalized people.
We have a unique model where clinical care is provided through our embedded clinics in PHS housing and through our outpatient clinics at Columbia Street Community Clinic and the Molson Overdose Prevention Site injectable opioid agonist therapy (iOAT) and tablet injectable opioid agonist therapy (TiOAT) clinics and our new safe supply program, SAFER.
In addition, PHS Health Care runs monthly Hep C and women’s health clinics, as well as access to various other in-house specialist clinics, including internal medicine and neurology.
This is a great job for a new graduate, as you will be very well supported by our team. It’s also a wonderful fit for an experienced nurse looking to lead innovative new interventions for people who use drugs.
Our nursing shifts are days and evenings only – no nights! We offer a competitive starting wage, benefits and a unionized environment. (The temporary RN/RPN position includes pay in lieu of benefits.)
PHS Health Care embraces a diverse and inclusive working environment that is reflective of the communities served. We are a pragmatic and compassionate organization with a committed and supportive team environment.
