This historic 1920’s hotel supports vulnerable self-identifying women in the DTES. Women who live at the Rainier have access to mental health services, medication management, detox, harm reduction recovery-focussed programming and education. Its unique structure provides low barrier access to training, stipends, peer support, volunteer tasks and opportunities to work for our social enterprises.
The programs range from anger management, grief and loss counselling, art therapy, acupuncture, individual counselling and a trauma support group. These offer women tangible options to meet their therapeutic needs and ways to self-direct their healing and reach future goals. Staff meet with residents regularly to ensure the women living at the Rainier are collectively deciding the supports provided.
