Volunteer
People often reach out to see if they can help some way with our vital frontline work in the community.
Unfortunately, PHS does not have volunteer or work placement positions available in Vancouver or Victoria. This is in recognition of the vulnerability of our residents and service users, and their need for privacy.
We have a corporate or group volunteering program in which teams purchase bulk items for people experiencing homelessness and take part in packing events. And there might be a chance to help out for a couple of hours at community events like the Under Armour Eastside 10K.
But if you’re looking for workplace experience in a community setting, we recommend you check out:
In Vancouver: Carnegie Community Centre, Downtown Eastside Neighbourhood House, Downtown Eastside Women’s Centre, Greater Vancouver Food Bank and Union Gospel Mission.
In Victoria: Big Brothers, Big Sisters; Mustard Seed Food Bank and The Soup Kitchen.
