The PHS food program provides nutrition to people in communities with chronic food insecurity, every day of the year.
Residents of PHS-operated housing projects in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside and Victoria receive at least one hot meal a day, with the more supportive programs offering three meals a day.
Teams work round the clock at commercial kitchens embedded in housing units in Vancouver and Victoria to produce breakfasts, lunches and dinners, fitting in extras like sandwiches and baked goods as required.
The Downtown Eastside kitchens are made possible by support from Vancouver Coastal Health, Sanford Housing Society and BC Housing. In Victoria, our commercial kitchen at Johnson Street Community provides nutritious food to residents and shelter users.
