Business Analyst

Reporting to the Contracts and Systems Manager, the Business Analyst (BA) is responsible for providing a range of business and systems analysis and support to the PHS finance team and senior management. Based on observation and critical analysis of data, this position plays a key role in digitization, integration and efficient storage of organization information.

The BA leads systems optimization and integration between finance, human resources and property management systems.

Responsibilities

Job duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Supports, develops, and maintains business processes necessary to facilitate accurate capture, flow, and storage of data.
  • Participates in strategic planning support and change management services by working with senior management to streamline business processes and best practices in digitization, electronic information capture, storage and utilization.
  • Works with multiple stakeholders across departments (operations, finance, systems, HR, and IT) to design and configure processes and system reports to enhance business functions.
  • Provides business analysis by assessing and reviewing subprocesses related to specific finance/payroll operations to eliminate redundancies, inefficiencies, and to optimize systems. Modifies manual processes and introduces automation where possible.
  • Performs systems configuration, testing, and auditing in HRIS, property management, and finance systems.
  • Works with Finance, HR, and operational teams to ensure accurate time processing and administration for 800+ employees. Suggests efficiency improvements and ensures compliance with collective agreements.
  • Provides guidance and instruction to managers using Ceridian Dayforce for pay adjustments and time punches. Ensures adequate follow-up and training is provided when errors are made.
  • Develops and maintains systems documents including user manuals and training materials.
  • Recommends and implements practice changes and communicates these to the management team.
  • Applies intermediate to advanced knowledge of technological systems.
  • Verifies system configuration functions and identifies gaps to be addressed.
  • Supports system optimization and integration between Ceridian Dayforce, Business Central and Arcori applications.
  • Evaluates current business processes. Identifies and documents business problems and issues.
  • Produces business intelligence reports using data from Dayforce, Business Central and Arcori.
  • Collaborates with HR Analyst to maintain seniority and wage progression records for all unionized employees.
  • Responsible for completing quarterly Health Sector Compensation Information Systems (HSCIS) reporting to Health Employer’s Association of BC (HEABC).
  • Ensures records are maintained in compliance with current legal requirements.
  • Ensures strict confidentiality is upheld with regard to employee information at all times.
  • Supports operational improvement projects and performs other related duties as directed.

Education and experience

The ideal candidate for this role has the following qualifications and skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, human resources or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Three to five years’ relevant experience.
  • Advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, esp. Excel.
  • Familiarity and aptitude for various information management systems.
  • Demonstrates the ability to be self-directed.
  • Works well as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible and willing to adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience working in a unionized environment an asset.
  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce an asset.

Terms of employment

Job type: Permanent, full-time.

Salary: $65,000 to $75,000, depending on experience.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9 am – 5 pm.

This is an excluded permanent full-time role.
